The Times & The Sunday Times now available within Apple News+

Content from the news brands will be available on Apple’s paid subscription service as it launches in the UK.

Apple launched Apple News+ in the US and Canada in March and is now extending the service to UK consumers. Content from The Times, The Sunday Times and their associated magazines will be made available as part of the Apple News+ subscription, bringing new audiences to the titles and driving additional revenue.

Apple News+ subscribers enjoy personalised, comprehensive access to hundreds of popular magazines, leading international newspapers and digital publishers in a convenient and curated experience within the Apple News app.

News Corp Chief Executive Robert Thomson said: “We are proud to partner globally with a company that truly believes in the profundity of provenance and that there should be a premium for premium journalism. Apple has acted positively, honorably and decisively to change the digital landscape, while other gatekeepers, such as Google, prefer hype and hypocrisy.”

News UK CEO Rebekah Brooks added: “Apple recognises the value of our world-class journalism. We believe this agreement benefits both sides, bringing new revenues to News UK as well as an opportunity to reach a wider audience. The Apple News+ subscription service is the next step as we evolve our digital strategy.”

The Wall Street Journal, also News Corp owned, was among the founder titles to join Apple News+ in March this year when the service debuted to US and Canadian consumers. Apple is also launching the service in Australia and will include News Corp Australia’s portfolio of national, metropolitan and regional newspapers including The Australian, The Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun.
