The Telegraph & Google Cloud announce new cloud services collaboration

The tie-up will see The Telegraph migrate all production and pre-production services to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in 2019, allowing for the delivery of faster accurate reporting, compelling content experiences for readers and reduced environmental impact.

The Telegraph were early adopters of cloud technologies, becoming one of the first publishers to move to G Suite in 2008. Since then, it has worked closely with GCP to utilise its productivity tools and browser based collaboration software.

"We are delighted to announce our newest collaboration with Google Cloud," said Chris Taylor, chief information officer at The Telegraph. "We have always worked closely with Google as they help us to provide our readers with great experiences on our digital products, collaboration software and internet scale through search. Their continued leadership in projects such as Kubernetes are enabling us to build flexible development environments that truly support DevOps."

Matt McNeill, customer engineering director at Google Cloud, UK & IE, added: "Our relationship with The Telegraph has continued to grow and develop over the last decade and today we're thrilled to share our collaboration in more detail. Through the use of Google Cloud's technology solutions, together we are reimagining The Telegraph's media technology and operations to benefit not only their business, but their readers and the environment too."
