Pippa Crerar joins Daily Mirror as political editor

Crerar replaces Andrew Gregory who is moving to The Sunday Times as health editor in November.

Joining in December, Crerar moves from The Guardian where she is currently deputy political editor. She joined The Guardian in February, having previously been City Hall editor at the Evening Standard.

Alison Phillips, editor of the Daily Mirror, said: "We are absolutely delighted Pippa is joining our brilliant political team in such a key role. I know she will be a fantastic ambassador for the Mirror brand."

Crerar tweeted that she can’t wait to get started in the role, adding that "it feels particularly special as my first ever Fleet Street job back in 2000 was at the Daily Mirror".

Gregory, who has been at the Mirror for 12 years, tweeted that he was thrilled to be joining The Sunday Times. During his time at the Mirror Gregory was health correspondent for five years, twice being named Health Journalist of the Year at the Society of Editors' Press Awards.
