JK Rowling treats readers to a new children’s book

An extract of ‘The Ickabog’ ran as an exclusive in the Daily Mail today.

The author of the Harry Potter series said that her new book is for "children on lockdown, or even those back at school during these strange, unsettling times".

The novel will be entirely free and will be published in instalments on The Ickabog website every day until 10 July.

This is Rowling’s first children’s story in more than a decade and is about a monster.

She has asked young fans to draw pictures that can accompany the story, the best ones will be included in the final published edition of the book in November.
