People up and down the country have started their summer holidays and local businesses such as pubs, hotels and attractions have begun reopening their doors, adhering to strict safety measures to keep customers and employees safe.

This second instalment of this series provides readers with ideas on where they could visit with a specific focus on crowd-free destinations and often overlooked beauty spots throughout the UK. There’s advice on everything, from how to get there and what to do once there. The branded content also gives advice on where to stay including the best cottages, campsites and hotels.

The Guardian’s four-page advertising pull out features four crowd-free UK summer destinations including the Black Mountains, Fife, the north Pennines and Strangford Lough, County Down with top tips on fell running, restaurants, hiking and kayaking.  

Meanwhile, The Salisbury Journal highlights four destinations in the South West to visit including exploring Dartmoor and Exmoor by llama, appreciating culture at Tate St Ives, cycling across Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, and seeing the Mayflower Steps in Plymouth, commemorating the Pilgrims; departure to America in 1620.

National and local news brands will continue to run Staycation branded content over the coming days.
