Shift North 2017 reports and presentations

Data and culture in the modern newsroom

Hear the Guardian's editor of strategic projects Chris Moran speak at Shift North 2017 about how the title is using data to produce journalism and find its most relevant audience.

The Guardian has long been recognised for digital pathfinding, not least around data. Chris, who co-created the Guardian’s bespoke analytics tool Ophan, gives a live demonstration of how the title pulls in data and uses it to shape its content. In his words: "We write journalism for one specific reason – to be read... We take the journalism we believe in and try and find its most relevant audience."
