Evening Standard launches new app range

ESI Media says that the launch of new apps shows its commitment to evolving the Evening Standard's digital presence and continuing integration with its print editions.

Available to both iOS and Android users, the new apps update every 30 minutes and combine the Evening Standard's daily digital PDF edition with interactive features.

Readers can comment on the day's stories and share content across social networks. Additionally the apps feature full-length photo galleries and an archive of the last 30 PDF editions of the Evening Standard.

While the apps for iPhone and Android are completely new, the iPad version has been updated to enhance user experience, including a new look and dedicated supplements page.

Zach Leonard, managing director of digital at The Independent and Evening Standard, said: "Our digital audience has significantly grown over the last year, with more than half of our traffic (56%) now coming from a mobile or tablet device. It is important for us as both a brand and a news source to constantly evolve our products to meet our readers' demands. That is why we are providing them with new ways to engage with our content whenever, however and wherever best suits them."
