Brands mark Star Wars Day with ads in the Mirror

From Starbucks to Heinz, brands were out in force yesterday to celebrate Star Wars Day with a series of especially commissioned ads running in the Daily Mirror newspaper and e-edition. 

Working with Omnicom, ads from Heinz sauces, Babybel, Starbucks, SEAT and Hasbro recreated scenes from the cult film series. 

James Wildman, chief revenue officer for Trinity Mirror, said: "Star Wars has such a huge group of fans across all ages and the excitement ahead of the new film out at the end of the year is massive. There's something very special about the passion Star Wars invokes in people so we jumped at the chance to celebrate that. We've enjoyed having some fun with it with our advertising partners and we hope our readers have enjoyed it too."

The Mirror also marked the day with a stormtrooper taking over the masthead, accompanied by the line "May the 4th be with you", as well as a Star Wars character quiz inside the paper.
