News & events launches a monthly edition of its lifestyle newsletter to talk about race

The launch coincides with Black History Month.

Once a month, the’s lifestyle newsletter ‘The Fix’ will explore issues related to race and discrimination.

The content will come from the news brand’s State of Racism series that looks at what it means to be a person of colour in the UK, covering features such as ‘Children are leaving school having never studied a book by a Black author’ and ‘Black employees face 'psychological burden' of fighting racism at work’.

The series started at the beginning of the year and is run by journalists Natalie Morris and Faima Bakar and supported by Sophie Murray-Morris, Alex Wilkins and Ellen Scott.

In the newsletter’s launch edition, Morris and Bakar said: “A lot has happened since we first launched our ongoing series The State of Racism back in February. The world feels like a completely different place…We are bringing back our regular State Of Racism content – along with this monthly newsletter – to shine a light on the realities of racism in the UK today. From microaggressions to overt hostility to systemic barriers to success, we aim to uncover the unspoken experiences of people of colour in modern Britain.”
