The i runs articles from the Financial Times & The Arts Desk

The i newspaper runs ‘selected highlights’ from the FT and The Arts Desk, as part of a new deal between the titles.

Starting this week, the newsbrand will republish 10 articles a week from the FT, including news, columns, features and politics, business and arts. 

The first FT articles appeared in this week's paper. One was an opinion piece by Pilita Clark about paid parental leave for men and the other, a profile of former Israeli general and prime ministerial candidate Benny Gantz, by Mehul Srivestava.

In his editor’s letter yesterday (9 April), Oly Duff highlighted the new deal with the FT by saying: “I am a big fan of the FT, enjoying its incisive reporting, illuminating analysis and thoughtful comment, and I hope you find this a welcome addition to i’s existing mix.”

He added: “We aim to blend original i journalism with our curation of quality articles from other leading publications, selected for their potential appeal to i readers.”

The paper will also carry up to five daily reviews from TheArtsDesk.com, as well as a number of selected feature articles. 

Alice Jones, i Arts Editor, said: “High quality arts coverage is in the DNA of i. Working with The Arts Desk allows us to increase our reviews coverage, across all the art forms, and across a variety of institutions around the country. The Arts Desk's large stable of critics will bring further expertise and experience to i’s arts pages.”

Duff finished by saying that there will be further announcements about improvements to the paper in the coming months.

The i has previously made similar arrangements with The Economist and The Conservationist.
