Daily Mirror to launch month long ‘Helping Hand’ campaign

The campaign aims to galvanise readers, communities and businesses.

This morning, at a talk at Mediatel's The Future of Publishing, the Daily Mirror’s Alison Phillips discussed holding the government to account, breaking the Dominic Cummings story and diversity in the news business.

During the talk, the paper’s editor-in-chief announced a new month-long campaign called 'Mirror Helping Hand', which launches on Saturday 27 June.

'Mirror Helping Hand' will see the paper stand united with its readers, communities and businesses across the country to give them vital support during these challenging times. Themed editorial will run across four consecutive weeks covering:

  • Health and mental well-being
  • Personal finance
  • Community support and fundraising
  • Local business and the high street

Bolstering the editorial drive will be a range of initiatives which will include:

  • One reader’s debts being completely paid off to the value of £32,000
  • An exclusive six-figure fund offering financial awards to small community projects nationwide chosen by the Daily Mirror’s editorial team and the Pride of Britain team
  • Free advertising to small business owners to kickstart local high streets through Reach’s hyper local platform In Your Area

Alison Phillips, Daily Mirror-editor-in-chief commented: “Millions of our readers, their families, their communities and their businesses have endured incredible hardship and suffering. 'Mirror Helping Hand' is one small step we are making to address the turmoil of recent months to help put things right.”
