What would life be like in a world without news?

I imagine it might look something like North Korea, where Kim Jong-un likes his people to live in ignorance. North Koreans are allowed smartphones but can only access an intranet that is rigidly-controlled and monitored by the regime.

Their single permitted source of current affairs is propaganda from the Korean Central News Agency, while those who surreptitiously view content from foreign media – even a smuggled Disney DVD – can be sent to concentration camps.
