NI becomes News UK

Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper publishing company changes its name to News UK ahead of the News Corp restructure on Friday.

News International, which owns The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun, is launching a new logo in tandem with the name change, both of which will be rolled out immediately.

Later this week Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation will split into two separate companies – News Corp, which will encompass the publishing businesses, and 21st Century Fox, which will consist of the entertainment companies.

The chief executive of News UK, Mike Darcey, said: "This is an exciting time and I feel privileged to be leading News UK as it begins a bright new chapter. With new people and a new strategy, we will take our place within a new company determined to secure a sustainable future for professional journalism around the globe."
