Telegraph launches enhanced Clearing app

The app will allow students to access course, university and location information during the clearing process.

The Telegraph, which has an exclusive media partnership with admissions service UCAS, experienced record downloads of its Clearing app in 2012, resulting in an enhanced, redesigned version for 2013’s school leavers.

The app, which is currently featured on iTune’s ‘What’s Hot’ list will provide students with all the necessary course, uni and location information for navigating the clearing process, as well as featuring Twitter updates, relevant breaking news stories and an enhanced navigation system.

A ‘how to use this app’ section will also be available on the reworked app, giving users a clear guide on how to use the app to make selecting and calling universities as easy as possible.

A clearing supplement will be available with The Daily Telegraph on August 15, 16, 17, 29 and September 5 with full university and course listings, and telegraph.co.uk will be providing live updates as to what places are available where.

In addition to the Clearing app, which is aimed at students starting university in autumn 2013, a Course Finder app will be available for students applying for university courses starting the following year.  The app includes details of 31,000 course options.

James Lancaster, director of specialist sales at TMG, said: “In 2012 we achieved more than 17,000 downloads of the Clearing app, which goes to show what a valuable and useful service we offer to students at what can be a difficult and stressful time. The enhancements made and new designs for the 2013 versions of the apps will only serve to make the process smoother.”
