Evening Standard partners with Sport magazine

The London Evening Standard and UTV Media's Sport magazine have agreed a deal whereby both will be distributed together every Thursday evening from September.

As part of the deal Sport, which has a current distribution of around 300,000, will also continue to be distributed independently of the Standard on Friday mornings.

However, the move will give the publication a significant boost, as the partnership will see Sport distributed in new areas like Canary Wharf and Square Mile, as it benefits from the Evening Standard's 700,000 strong circulation.

Simon Caney, publisher of Sport, said: "The free magazine and newspaper marketing continues to grow particularly in London, and this is a great opportunity for us to partner with one of the biggest names in the business."

On the partnership, the head of distribution for the London Evening Standard, Tim Freeman, said: "This is a very exciting project for us as we are keen to collaborate with other significant media owners when the opportunity presents itself.

"Sport is a high-quality, well-respected title and is a good fit with our overall distribution operation."

The news marks yet another change this September for the Evening Standard and its commercial department ESI Media – which also represent the Independent and the i – as CBS Outdoor’s Dan Locke and Miroma’s Simon Poole will join as part of a significant restructuring of the commercial team ahead of the launch of London Live TV next March.
