Zaid Al-Qassab to chair Newsworks Planning Awards 2017

Now open for entries, the Newsworks Planning Awards celebrate and promote media agencies' innovative and creative planning in newsbrands.

BT Group's chief brand and marketing officer Zaid Al-Qassab will lead the 2017 jury, which includes DFS's Nick Ashworth, Maxus' Clare Chapman, Sky UK's Barry Louth, British Heart Foundation's Rosemary Brown, GroupM's Steve Goodman and m/SIX's Alistair MacCallum.

"In our current media landscape, you need smart, strategic campaigns to cut through and build relationships. I'm going to be looking out for work which capitalises on newsbrands' unique context and delivers clear evidence of effectiveness – but also ideas that engage and delight readers", Al-Qassab said. "I'm looking forward to chairing the awards and to lively discussion with my fellow judges!"

The awards feature seven categories, plus a chair's award: best newspaper campaign, best newsbrand campaign, best topical campaign, best content partnership, an omnimedia award, best use of insight and an effectiveness award.

I can't wait to see the smart and innovative ways that planners are utilising them this year."
