Claire Irvin becomes head of travel editorial, overseeing all travel content across The Telegraph's print and digital platforms.

Irvin joins the company in May and brings with her over 20 years of experience at the helm of some of the UK's biggest magazines.

Currently editorial content director at The River Group, she is responsible for design, editorial and creative across 21 print and digital brands. Prior to this, she was editor in chief at Bauer Media, heading up the digital reinvention of its parenting portfolio.

Irvin has also been editor of SHE, Sugar and ELLEGirl, editor-at-large of Grazia and editorial consultant for women's glossies such as Red and InStyle.

She will report to deputy editor and lifestyle director Jane Bruton.

Bruton said: "Claire's strong track record in publishing and digital media, as well as her passion and vision, made her the ideal fit for this hugely important role. Our award-winning team of travel experts have established The Telegraph as the most trusted and respected source of information and inspiration in the market. Claire's experience will be invaluable as we continue to evolve, innovate and lead the way in travel."

Irvin added: "I'm thrilled to be joining The Telegraph. Not only does it continue to lead the industry with its rich heritage in quality, relevant content, but it's also at the forefront of digital innovations, not least in travel. It's a fantastic opportunity and I can't wait to start working with the team."
