2017 so far: UK Newsbrands have over 800 million social media interactions

According to latest NewsWhip data for January to September, newsbrands have seen a 26% year on year uplift in social media interactions.

Since President Trump’s inauguration in January, via ongoing Brexit negotiations, to heated tensions on the Korean peninsula, there has been plenty of headline grabbing news stories so far this year. But what has had people sharing on social media?

According to NewsWhip data for January to September 2017, UK newsbrand stories have generated over 800 million social media interactions, an impressive 26% year on year uplift.

On Twitter, theguardian.com is the most popular publisher site, beating US-based sites like washingtonpost.com and cnn.com. Meanwhile, MailOnline is the most popular UK newspaper brand site on Facebook, coming in fourth overall.
