Newsworks announces 2016 Planning Awards shortlist

This year's Newsworks Planning Awards attracted a record number of entries from agencies including the7stars, December 19, Manning Gottlieb OMD, MediaCom, MEC, Mindshare and PHD.

The client-agency jury, led by David Wheldon, chief marketing officer of the Royal Bank of Scotland, whittled down the entries to a shortlist of 30.

David Wheldon said: “I am delighted to chair the Newsworks Planning Awards in their fourth year. I’ve always been a huge fan of newspaper advertising - the context and audience, plus the very clear metrics and opportunity for great creativity make it a key part of effective media plans. The campaigns shortlisted were compelling, engaging and achieved what the client set out to do in the first place. I look forward to announcing the winners!”

Vanessa Clifford, interim chief executive of Newsworks, added: "Once again we've been delighted with the standard of entries to this year's Newsworks Planning Awards. Agencies and clients are finding new and interesting ways of working in partnership with newsbrands, utilising their strengths around context, trust and effectiveness. We are always impressed by the quality of entries, but this year more so than ever."

The winners will be announced at a party at the Century Club on Wednesday 30 November 2016.
